Inside artuszero’s “Explorations EP”: A Sonic Journey from LSEM’s Music Production Courses to Label Release

From Barcelona to London – Artús' remote journey through LSEM’s Advanced Course led to a full label release on Fresh Beats Records
As Fresh Beats Records enters its eighth chapter, Explorations EP by artúszero (FRBR008) marks a pivotal moment for both artist and label. Rooted in the LSEM community, this release is a glowing example of the depth and imagination fostered through our Advanced Music Production Course.
Barcelona-born, now embedded in London’s underground fabric, artúszero is a producer who thrives in liminal spaces—between memory and distortion, rhythm and abstraction. With Explorations EP, he offers a four-track narrative that traverses shadowy club textures, breakbeat-infused nostalgia, and emotive sonic storytelling.
After recently previewing the release on air, artúszero travelled from Barcelona to London to appear on our Fresh Beats Records Showcase on Bloop Radio, recorded live on 30 March. Now, with that energy still fresh in the air, we’re proud to see his Explorations EP officially out and available across all digital platforms.
During the interview, artúszero summed up his creative vision: "My idea with this EP was to have a forward-thinking approach to electronic music, but experimenting and exploring as much as possible."
Opener "Kept Asking Me About A Girl" draws the listener into a murky, sample-led world—minimal yet immersive, haunting yet propulsive. Its understated groove evokes the disorientation of late-night introspection.
"Call My Name" continues the introspective thread, folding breakbeat percussion into ghostly vocal fragments and filmic atmospheres. It’s a sonic diary entry, fleeting and intimate—like a thought you almost forgot.
"Asking Broken Questions" takes a more expansive turn, leaning into classic electronic motifs while pushing them through a lens of uncertainty. The result is raw, emotional club music that’s equal parts kinetic and reflective.
Closing out the release, Lake Lerge’s remix of "Kept Asking Me..." injects rugged breakbeat energy into the original. The remix maintains the emotional weight while amplifying the dancefloor potential—gritty, charged, and razor-sharp.
What makes this release significant is not only the music itself but the ecosystem that nurtured it. artúszero developed this project during LSEM’s Advanced Music Production Course, where students are mentored by industry-active producers to create label-ready EPs. It’s where sound design, artistic voice, and professional polish converge—and Explorations EP is a standout result.
